I have been locked onto the idea of teaching innovation in our students. This article, with its links, is what I’ve been talking about. If you are curious about teaching innovation, something I believe is unteachable, this is a great place to start your reading. Current political rhetoric wants teachers to “teach” innovation. Hell, if I could teach it, I would! I can teach nearly any skill you can identify, but innovating is not a skill. I think innovation, like artistic creativity, is an attribute that must be fostered. We must provide the environment, resources, guidance and encouragement so that kids will “take the risks” that lead to, or become innovation.
